The dentist will then seal the opening with a temporary filling, and a few days later, a permanent filling or a dental crown may be placed on the tooth to restore its function and protect it from further damage.
After a root canal treatment, the tooth may feel sensitive for a few days, but this can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. With proper care, including good oral hygiene and regular dental checkups, a tooth that has had a root canal can last for many years.
