Dental Treatments Available Under CGHS
One of the most common questions we hear is, "What dental treatments are actually covered under CGHS?"
The answer depends on your diagnosis, eligibility, referral pathway, and the current CGHS guidelines. Rather than assuming a treatment is covered, it's always best to undergo a dental examination so the appropriate treatment plan can be prepared.
At The Smile Surgeon, we routinely evaluate patients requiring everything from routine dental care to complex oral and maxillofacial procedures. Depending on your individual diagnosis and the applicable CGHS provisions, treatment may include:
Root Canal Treatment (RCT)
A root canal is performed to save a tooth whose nerve has become infected or severely inflamed. Early treatment often prevents extraction and helps preserve your natural tooth.
Tooth-Coloured Fillings
Dental fillings restore teeth affected by decay, fractures, or worn restorations while maintaining a natural appearance.
Tooth Extractions
When a tooth cannot be restored, extraction may be recommended to eliminate infection, relieve pain, or prepare for future treatment.
Surgical Wisdom Tooth Removal
Impacted wisdom teeth can lead to pain, swelling, repeated infections, and damage to adjacent teeth. Surgical removal may be advised after clinical and radiographic evaluation.
Scaling & Gum Disease Treatment
Professional cleaning removes plaque and calculus that brushing alone cannot eliminate. Early treatment of gum disease helps protect both teeth and supporting bone.
Crowns & Bridges
Teeth weakened by large cavities or root canal treatment may require crowns to restore strength and function. Bridges may be recommended to replace missing teeth in appropriate cases.
Complete & Partial Dentures
Custom-made dentures restore chewing ability, speech, and facial support for patients with multiple missing teeth.
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Some patients require specialised treatment for conditions such as facial infections, jaw cysts, oral lesions, traumatic dental injuries, or other oral surgical conditions. Management depends on clinical findings and applicable CGHS provisions.
Important: The treatment you receive is determined by your clinical diagnosis and the current CGHS rules. Not every procedure is covered in every situation, and some treatments may require referrals or additional approvals. Your dentist will explain the most appropriate treatment plan after a detailed examination.
